How can I get into my ipod to restore it when it wont let me input password?

I have to restore my jailbroken ipod and it won't let me do it because my ipod is password protected. It says I have to input my password before it can be synced to itunes. Now how can I input the password if all that shows up is the itunes icon the minute i boot up by ipod? How can I input my password? *additonal note* I already have itunes on my computer
