Can someone help me with this question about a detention center/prison?

Got a job at a prison/detention center. In the interview i expressed my concern for advancement into new fields and supervisory positions. They called me back and asked if I would work in the kitchen area. I have orientation tomorrow from 8-5 so I plan to ask them this there but looking for a heads up. Do you think I will still be getting TCLEOSE certified as a correctional officer? I'm thinking I will since I expressed concern for advancing within the prison but its making me second guess myself since they are considering putting me in the kitchen. I know he said in the kitchen we are in charge of the inmates that work there too so could it be like, a correctional officer but working in the kitchen? Just a little confused. Thanks
